Revived
We are a small team of digital image
restorers based in Cornwall.
Through our personal interest in genealogy
and family history, we realised that a wealth of historic images were slowly disappearing.
From photographs
collected from family members during our genealogy research, we were alarmed by
the condition we found them to be in. If we did not act quickly to rescue,
restore and revive them, they would be lost forever.
Photographs are a
link to our past and are not just important for our own family history or our
own recollections of people and events, they are also an important social record.
Caring
for these images shows a respect for those that appear in them
The
effects of time, sunlight, damp, moisture, creasing, tearing, chemical reactions
and poor storage, all work towards destroying these important documents forever
It is for all of
the above reasons we decided to start up Photos Revived.
With
the advances in digital imaging technology, it is possible to restore
photographs to closely match how they originally appeared. To preserve
electronically a copy of the photograph, so that, no matter what happens to the
original, that piece of history is saved for future generations.
